Seis drives innovation with Meter as their connectivity partner
Background
Seis is a Spanish-speaking neo-bank that aims to help the often unbanked or underbanked Spanish-speaking community in the US by providing full-service banking and other financial services in their native tongue. Seis’ goal is to help more people secure their American dream by providing the services they need in a language they understand.
We spoke with Sergio Manrique Ponce, Seis’ Head of Community about how they came to use Meter and what it’s been like for him to use his background in IT to manage the company network alongside his primary role managing customer relationships, influencer marketing efforts, and powering the company’s social media presence.
Being a one-person network team brings unique challenges
Before joining Seis, Sergio worked in IT and networking for several years. In his last role before moving to Seis, he managed a small office of around 40 people that used Ubiquiti hardware. While he found Ubiquiti to be adequate for that size office, when they moved and expanded to several hundred employees, things got trickier.
Through budgetary constraints and a new office space that presented a new set of hurdles like glass walls that interfered with Wi-Fi signal strength, Sergio found himself trying to explain why a patchwork of Ubiquiti switches and Aruba APs wasn’t a sustainable solution.
Sergio spent over $30,000 to bring in two Aruba APs and technicians for two days, but the Wi-Fi issues persisted. Feeling defeated, he dreaded explaining to the office that despite the significant time and money invested, they still lacked a functioning Wi-Fi system. He knew there had to be a better way to manage office internet infrastructure.
Meter: a team of network engineering professionals acting as an extension of your team
Fast forward to when Sergio joined Seis as Head of Community, and the company announced that they were moving to a new space. Management knew of his background in IT, so of course, it fell to Sergio to sort out Wi-Fi for the new space. Midway through the process of collecting bids, Sergio heard about Meter.
"I realized Meter was a one-stop-shop for office internet infrastructure.” Not only was Meter offering everything Sergio needed to get Seis’ new office up and running, but it was all available with no money upfront and a single monthly subscription that included everything: hardware, installation, software licensing, maintenance, 24/7 operations, and upgrades for life.
With Meter acting as his network engineering team, Sergio can focus on the other aspects of his role as the Head of Community at a Fintech startup. “I wear many hats throughout the day,” Sergio tells us. “I just don’t have time to remember if a switch is nearing end-of-life or if an AP needs a firmware update. I have Meter for all of that now.” To ensure that Seis' network performed adequately, Meter created an optimized network design and set up three separate radio profiles based on the size and shape of their office. Sergio has seen no issues since beginning on his journey with Meter.
Whether your in-house team consists of one person for whom IT is but one of their hats or if you have a team of dedicated engineers, Meter is there for you with an intuitive dashboard for control over your network, minus the pain of managing installation, security updates, and 24/7 monitoring and maintenance.
